What is Session Profile?
Session Profile splits the chart into sessions, one UTC day by default, and draws a horizontal profile for each. The profile shows, row by row across the session's price range, how much activity happened at each price. The busiest row is the Point of Control (POC), and the rows around it that hold 70% of the activity by default form the value area.
It has two modes. Volume, the default, counts how much traded at each price, split into up and down volume. TPO, the market profile, counts how long price spent at each price, so every bar counts the same whatever its volume.
This is a closed-source premium script. It runs on Altrady's servers, so only its output reaches your chart and its code is not published.
Components
Session Profile combines 2 tools in one script. Each one has its own switch in the settings.
- Session Volume Profile. Volume at each price per session, split by up and down bars, with the POC and value area. The default mode.
- Market Profile (TPO). Time at each price per session, every bar touching a row adding the same amount whatever its volume, with the POC and value area.
How to use Session Profile
- Point of Control. The price where the session did the most business. Price often returns to a recent session's POC, and many traders treat it as a magnet.
- Value area. The band where most of the session's activity happened. Opening inside yesterday's value area is often read as balance, outside it as a possible trend day.
- Volume or time. Volume shows where size traded. TPO shows where price lingered. When the two disagree, a thin but long-lasting area tells a different story from a busy one.
- Comparing sessions. Sessions side by side show whether value is moving up, down or overlapping, a simple read of who is in control.

How it works
A session starts at Session Start, 00:00 UTC by default. Each session's high to low range is cut into Rows rows, 24 by default. In Volume mode each bar's volume is spread across the rows it touched; in TPO mode each bar simply counts once in every row it touched.
The busiest row is the POC, and the value area grows outward from it until it holds the Value Area percentage. The current session is rebuilt every bar, because its range, and so its rows, change as price makes new highs or lows.
The poc_cross alert fires when a bar closes across the POC, with the mode named in its message. Max Sessions keeps up to five sessions on the chart.
Limitations
- The current session changes. Until the session ends, its rows, POC and value area move as the range grows. Completed sessions are fixed.
- Volume depends on the exchange. Volume mode uses the market's own volume, which only covers trading on that exchange.
- Bars are spread evenly. A bar's volume is spread evenly over its range, since the chart does not know where inside the bar it traded. Higher timeframes make this coarser.
- At most five sessions. Max Sessions is capped at five to keep the chart within its drawing limits.
- No letters in TPO mode. The classic market profile prints letters per time period. This script draws boxes instead.

Frequently asked questions
Volume counts how much traded at each price. TPO, the market profile, counts how many bars touched each price, so it shows time spent rather than size traded.
The row with the most volume, or the most time in TPO mode, in the session. It is drawn in its own colour.
Yes. Session Start is a UTC time in HHMM, 0000 by default. For example, 1430 is the NYSE open in winter.
One, poc_cross. It fires when a bar closes across the session's POC.
Yes. Session Profile is a closed-source premium script. It runs on Altrady's servers, so only its output reaches your chart and the code is never shared. You buy it once in the Altrady marketplace, on its own, in the Volume Profile & Zones bundle or in the Altrady Complete Suite, and it needs a paid Altrady plan to run. It is also included with your first annual Premium subscription.
Use the Get it in Altrady button on this page to open its listing in the Altrady marketplace. Once it is in your account, open the indicator picker on any chart in Altrady Charts and add Session Profile like any other indicator. Choose Volume or TPO in its settings panel.
