What is Trendline Liquidity?

Everyone can see the same trendline, so many traders put their stops just beyond it. That makes the far side of a respected line a pool of resting orders rather than a wall. Trendline Liquidity marks the moment price reaches through the line to take those stops and then closes back on the other side.

It fits the same lines as Auto Trendlines, with the same default settings. A sweep of a support line gets an up arrow, a sweep of a resistance line a down arrow, and the swept line is drawn across its own span.

This is a closed-source premium script. It runs on Altrady's servers, so only its output reaches your chart and its code is not published.

How to use Trendline Liquidity

  • Support sweep. A wick below a rising support line that closes back above it. The sellers who were stopped out are now on the wrong side, which is read as bullish.
  • Resistance sweep. A wick above a resistance line that closes back below it, read as bearish.
  • The line survives. A sweep does not end the line. Only a close through it does, so every marked sweep is of a line that is still valid.
  • Grab or failed break. Both look the same on the bar. What price does next decides which it was, and that is the trader's call.

How it works

The script fits trendlines through recent confirmed swing highs and lows, choosing the line that the most pivots touch within a tolerance measured in average true ranges. A line needs Min Touches, three by default, before it can be swept.

A sweep is judged against the line's sloped value at the bar being tested, not its price when it was fitted. A bar whose low goes below a support line and whose close is back above it is a support sweep, and the mirror for resistance.

The trendline_sweep alert fires on the sweep bar, with a message saying which side was swept. Max Events keeps the last 20 markers on the chart.

Limitations

  • Swing lag. The lines use confirmed swings, so a new line appears Swing Length bars after its newest pivot.
  • No measure of size. How many stops sat beyond the line is unknowable, so the script marks the event without a quantity.
  • A sweep can become a break. Price can sweep, close back and then close through the line on the next bar.
  • Only the best line per side. Only the best fitted support and resistance lines are watched, so sweeps of other lines you draw yourself are not marked.
  • Higher timeframes need a matching chart. When fitting lines on a higher timeframe, the chart's own period must divide it exactly.
